Bringing History to Life As part of their History lessons about World War 2 Rudston pupils dressed up as evacuees to try to feel what it was like to leave home as a child, not to see family again for a long time. Mrs. Turnbull also arranged for a special tasting of appropriate foodstuffs. There was a mixed reaction to the spam on crackers and condensed milk sandwiches but the cod liver oil was widely given the thumbs down, sometimes quite dramatically! Dr Nicholson, the bursar, was also interviwed by small groups of 'intrepid reporters' wielding dictaphones. He shared his memories of the war as a young child and brought in photographs. The children devised some really good questions for the questionnaire. A group of children have learned rag-rugging and produced a really excellent rug, now on display in the classroom along with wartime diaries written by the children.
